The Corsican winery Vignerons d’Aghione has purchased our UNICO membrane filter to improve their production: an automatic process without the use of any filtering aid which enhance the organoleptic characteristics of the wine.
This particular filter UNICO, which has a standard configuration of 4 Stainless Steel membranes plus 6 capillary membranes (but it can be expanded to 5+9) will allow the winery to increase the hourly production without making the quality of the filtrate suffer.
The membranes of the UNICO filter allow to handle both the filtration of various types of wine and the filtration of juices and lees; it is just one automatic machine which does not need any type of filtering aid. The advantages are mainly from an economical point of view as the winery will not have to store the lees and to filter it afterwards with other machinery anymore. With the UNICO filter by VLS Technologies it is indeed possible to filter he entire tank and have, as waste, a product sellable to distilleries. The filtrate keeps unaltered its organoleptic characteristics and, is some cases, it even becomes better.
Vignerons d’Aghione is a winery born in 1975 on the Eastern coast of Corsica. Born with the aim of getting the AOP, the French version of the Italian DOCG, it is characterized by a constant growing. Before the year 2000 Vingneros decided to install a bottling line, in 2006 it launches on the market its brand Casanova, producing the first sparkling Moscato in Corsica; the year after, it introduces its first Rosè AOP. In 2015 it launches on the market its range of premium wines as Premium Casanova.
The Corsican wine scenario is characterized by a strong tipicity thanks to some unique climatic factors: sunny weather, dry and windy in the summer, mild in the winter and various terroirs. The indigenous vines are about 30 and among them the Niellucciu, a Sangiovese’s clone, the Sciaccarellu and the Vermentinu stand out. During the most recent years Corsican wineries have paid progressively more and more attention to the quality of the product, matching exaltation of the typical character of the wine and the terroir expression with updating the wine making techniques.
