Membrane separation processes, which are part of the broader category of filtration operations, are characterized by the presence of a barrier capable of selectively separating the components of a solution, thanks to pressure. This technique is easily applicable and does not require the use of auxiliary chemicals, resulting in limited energy consumption.
Membrane processes are the protagonists of numerous industrial applications for the concentration and recovery of valuable substances, including the clarification of musts and wines in the wine sector.
We have developed fully automated machinery, on which different membranes with pores of various sizes can be installed. Substances that are smaller than the pore pass through it as permeate, while those that are larger are retained as concentrate.
The resulting permeate will be a colorless wine with the same initial alcohol content. The concentrate will be a red wine, with greater body and color, which will have an intense and aromatic flavor.
